HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Glenn Davis hit a solo homer and drove in another run with a first-inning double to help Harrisburg beat New Britain Rock Cats 8-1 in a rain-shortened game and sweep an Eastern League doubleheader on Wednesday.

In the opener, right-hander Ron Chiavacci allowed one hit over six innings as the Senators beat the Rock Cats 3-2.

Davis and Ryan Balfe each had two of Harrisburg’s 11 hits in the nightcap. Luke Lockwood gave up four hits over five innings, striking out two and walking one to pick up a complete-game win in the five-inning game.

All eight of Harrisburg’s runs came off New Britain starter Brian Wolfe (2-3). Kelley Gulledge had two of New Britain’s four hits off Lockwood.

In the opener, Noah Hall drove in two of Harrisburg’s three runs with a third-inning single that gave the Senators a 2-0 lead and a fifth-inning single that snapped the 2-2 tie off New Britain starter Brent Schoening (4-3). Hall and Quincy Foster each finished with two of Harrisburg’s eight hits in the opener.

The Rock Cats’ only hit off Chiavacci (1-3) came on Jeff Deardorff’s two-run homer in the fourth inning, which tied the score 2-2. Chiavacci struck out six and walked three before leaving after six innings.

New Britain added a double by Kevin West off Chad Bentz in the seventh and final inning before Chuck Crumpton recorded the final out for the save.
