Woodbury DTC Rejects Lieberman
06/04/2003
WOODBURY - The Woodbury Democratic Town Committee recently approved a resolution signaling its refusal to endorse the presidential candidacy of Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-CT), citing disagreement with the senator's stands on the Iraq war and other issues.

The resolution, approved at the committee's May meeting, affirmed that the Woodbury DTC "cannot support Sen. Joseph Lieberman in his campaign to be nominated as the Democratic candidate for president.

"We disagree with many of his policies, but especially with his support of President Bush in the latter's preemptive war against Iraq."

The DTC will hold its next regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at Community House, 7 Mountain Rd.

Items on the agenda include the committee's outreach to all registered Democrats in Woodbury for volunteer service in town government and financial support of local party activities, as well as preparations for a major town Democratic event this autumn.

It makes sense to me that this happened. Lieberman is so busy pandering to conservatives and the religious right that you can't tell he's a Democrat, except for the "D" after his name.
