First team boys

MAURICE SHUFF - A 6-1 senior forward from Upper Darby...Led Royals in scoring (10.5 average) and rebounding (7.2 per game)... Also led UD in charges taken with 16...Second on team in steals with 16...

DAN GERIOT - A 6-6 freshman forward from Springfield... Earlier in season was primarily a perimeter player; later in season, scored much more from inside... Projected to grow to 6-10... Leading scorer on team with 10.8 points per game...Also led in rebounds with seven average ... Made most three-pointers and free throws for Cougars... Another three years loom...

CHRIS VASILIOU - A 6-3 senior guard from Marple Newtown...Averaged 15 points, four rebounds and three assists... Two-year starter...Made All-Central League first team last year, second team this season... Looking at prep schools, including Lawrenceville School in New Jersey.... Excellent shooter...

MATT O'MEARA - A 5-10 senior guard from Haverford... Averaged 10 points and four assists... First year starting... Went from starting on junior varsity to first string on varsity... Floor general...

CRAIG HAYWOOD - A 6-0 senior guard from O'Hara... Three-year starter... Averaged 14 points and five assists... Lions' best defensive player... Three-year starter...Good spot shooter... Starting quarterback on football team last fall; before that, he was a standout defensive halfback on team that won Catholic League championship... Has several Division II and III football offers...

CARLOS MONROE - A 6-5 sophomore forward from Bonner... Averaged 11 points and five rebounds... Transfer student... Superb athleticism and ability to block shots... Impressive open-court player... Scored 32 of Bonner's 47 points in win over Judge...

MIKE THORNTON - A 6-3 senior guard from Bonner... Averaged 11 points and four assists... Had game-high 20 points, netted 18 vs. West Catholic in two Bonner wins...Good three-point shooter...May play Division III...

JORDAN INGRAM- A 6-7 senior center from Carroll... Averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds...Made first-team All-Catholic, second team last season...Totaled 87 blocks in 26 games for 3.3 average... Made playoffs all four years at Carroll... Has scholarship to Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J...

MIKE SPRINGMAN - A 6-4 junior guard from Carroll... Averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists... Versatile player with toughness who can bring ball up court on offense, then defend against a post player or a point guard...Made second-team All-Catholic... Getting a lot of Division I recruiting attention in 11th grade...Made Catholic League playoffs all three years at Carroll...

ED MILLARD - A 6-5 junior forward from Penn Wood... In regular season, averaged team-bests 17.7 points and 10 rebounds...Started last 10 games of previous season...Low post strength and board work now complemented by outside game 12-to-15 feet from basket...Led Patriots to PIAA playoffs, beating North Penn in district opener before losing to Hatboro Horsham...

Second team boys

CHRIS EVERETT - A 5-9 senior guard from Upper Darby... Assumed point guard role at mid-season... Most accurate team free throw shooter on team (78 percent)...Led Royals with 58 assists and 26 made three-pointers... Also UD's steal leader with 17...

GAVIN GOANE - A 5-8 senior guard from Springfield... Best defensive player on team...Led Cougars in assists (four per game)...Top clutch foul shooter on club ...Had less than two turnovers per game...Three-year starter... Football standout: H-back on offense, secondary on defense... May get financial aid to play college lacrosse... Looking at Ursinus, Muhlenberg and Bentley College (Massa--chusetts)...

MIKE NUCCI- A 6-4 junior forward from Marple Newtown... Averaged 14 points and five rebounds...Does a lot of things on court well...Led Tigers in rebounding...Two-year starter...

STEVE McGANN- A 6-1 senior guard from Haverford... Averaged eight points... Exceptional defensive player... Excellent triple jumper and member of soccer team... Plans to play basketball at Philadelphia Bible College...Two-year starter...

JAMES MITCHELL - A 6-3 senior forward from O'Hara... Had 17 points and nine rebounds per game...Made third-team All-Catholic... Transfer student, first year starting... Excellent around the basket... Looking at West Chester and Arcadia for basketball...

BRIAN CAMPBELL- A 6-0 senior guard from O'Hara... Averaged 10 points and two steals...Improved defense...Best three-point shooter on team... Standout infielder in spring... Hopes to play baseball in college...

CHRIS PEARSON - A 5-10 senior guard from Penn Wood... Averaged 12 points...Jump shooter, hit 40 percent of three-point shots...Played JV last season, improved a lot over summer... May go to Slippery Rock or Williamson Trade School...

EUGENE SMITH - A 6-5 senior forward from Penn Wood...Averaged nine points and seven rebounds...Strong defensive ability, led team in blocked shots...Drew assignment of defending best big man - a key to Penn Wood making the PIAA district tournament...
