TULLYTOWN, Pa. -- Two suspects, including a 23-year-old illegal immigrant, were arraigned yesterday on drug charges following a DUI car stop along Route 13 which allegedly uncovered 16 baggies of suspected cocaine.

Police said Geraldo Lara, 23, who listed his address as Norristown, was driving a 1991 Plymouth sedan near Low Lane about 1:16 a.m. Sunday when patrol officers spotted him driving south on the wrong side of the divided highway.

After making a car stop, Tullytown Borough officer Nick Dumas said he smelled alcohol on the non-English speaking suspect and decided to perform field sobriety tests.

Dumas later discovered 16 glassine bags of suspected cocaine hidden inside the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia and false identification, said Tullytown Police Chief Pat Priore.

A second suspect, passenger Miguel Angel Montya Carreno, 19, of Ford Road in Bristol Township, was also taken into custody, Priore said.

Lara was charged with drug possession, possession with intent to deliver, false identification, driving under the influence, and careless driving. He was sent to Bucks County Prison on $30,000 bail, and could be handed over to immigration officials, Priore said.

Carreno, charged with possession, and possession with intent to deliver, was sent to BCP in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Priore said the vehicle was confiscated and turned over to Bucks County District Attorney's office for further investigation.
