ORANGE -- It will be the rubber game of the best-of-three series and a state title will go to the winner.

Simsbury forced the Junior League (13-14) softball championship series to a decisive Game 3 Monday by downing Bristol 6-5 on Monday.

The title will be decided tonight here at 7:30 p.m. at the Recreation Facility complex.

Simsbury snapped a 1-1 tie in the second inning by scoring five runs and then had to hang on at the finish.

After falling behind 1-0, Bristol tied the game in the top of the second when Heather Magnoli led off with a single and moved to third on a stole base and a pass ball. Magnoli scored on Amy Carlson's bouncer to shortstop.

Simsbury then took charge by scoring five hits by parlaying four hits, a walk and a Bristol error.

Bristol continued to battle to draw closer and managed to get within the final margin when Samantha Gorneault, after a walk to Jen Bossi, used to speed to leg out an inside-the-park homer.

Bristol pitchers Sara Bianchi and Audrey Boutin combined on an eight-hitter in defeat. Bianchi pitched three innings, allowing seven hits, three walks and struck out three. Boutin went four frames, allowing one hit with a walk and four strikeouts.
