WEST HAVEN -- The Bristol Senior League team may consider pitching a tent at Morse Park.

Bristol, on the combined no-hit pitching of Steph Montowski and Lauren Botteon, opened the best-of-three state playoff series with a 5-0 decision over Coginchaug Monday.

Montowski and Botteon chalked up 14 strikeouts and just three walks. Montowski went the first four frames and Botteon finished up.

Bristol can clinch the senior (15-16) state title with a victory tonight and secure a berth in the Eastern Regionals which will also be played here. If a third game is necessary, it would be played Wednesday.

Courtney Watson had two hits for Bristol which also had a two-run double from Jaime Clavette. Bristol scored the only run it needed in the first inning when Courtney Miller singled, stole second and scored on a single by Amanda Rios.

Clavette's two-run double came in the third. In the fourth, Bristol added two insurance tallies on a single by Watson and a sac fly by Miller.

Botteon chipped in with a double and Sarah Clavette also singled for Bristol.
