Jenkins helps Nottingham end three-game losing streak

HAMILTON --Nottingham High's Vicki Jenkins is chasing two goals this season.

The first goal is to get her Northstars team into the Central Jersey Group III playoffs, and the other is to become the school's first 1,000-point scorer.

Last night Jenkins scored 14 points as the Northstars snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Hopewell Valley, 41-36.

It put Nottingham's record at 5-6, meaning Mike Kelliher's girls have to win three of their next four games to have a .500 or better record by the Feb. 2 state tourney qualfying deadline.

Jenkins meanwhile raised her career total to 926 points. Jen Palmer and Patricia Foley, added eight apiece for the 'Stars.

NOTRE DAME 63, WEST WINDSOR PLAINSBORO NORTH 36: LAWRENCE -- Michelle Campbell scored 34 points, the second highest total of her career and her second 30-point game this season to lead the 9-2 Irish to their 44th straight CVC win.

Campbell, the 2001 Trentonian Player of the Year, was the only ND player to score in double figures as the area's No.1 ranked team improved to 9-2. Laura Trzasko had 14 for WW-P North;

LAWRENCE 46, ALLENTOWN 21: LAWRENCE-- Tashema Whittaker scored 17 points and sank three 3-pointers to help the surging Cardinals get their third win in four games.

TRENTON 72, HIGHTSTOWN 35: HIGHTSTOWN -- The Lady Tornadoes returned to the win column after Tuesday's upset loss at Notre Dame and got 35 points from their senior duo of guard Mykeema Ford (20 points) and center Asia Dowling (15) to raise their overall record to 10-1.

HUNTERDON CENTRAL 66, PHILLIPSBURG 27: FLEMINGTON -- With Jill Furstenburg dropping in 22 points and Ashlee Rossi adding 11 the Red Devils cruised.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK 70, HIGHLAND PARK 53: HIGHLAND PARK -- Heather Domotor topped 20 points for the second night in a row, only this time it got her South Brunswick Vikings a convincing win over Highland Park.

NESHAMINY 56, PENNRIDGE 43: LANGHORNE, Pa -- Kelly Bland got 14 points for the Redskins who evened their record at 8-8 after a 23-2 start.

BURLINGTON CITY 65, FLORENCE 22: BURLINGTON CITY -- The Blue Devils jumpedto a commanding 36-7 lead at halftime on the way to their eighthwin and fourth in a row.

SOUTH HUNTERDON 68, SOMERVILLE 28: LAMBERTVILLE -- Jessica Hewitt scored 16 points for the Eagles, who climbed six games over .500 with their ninth win.

MONTGOMERY 32, BELVIDERE 30: BELVIDERE -- Arielle McNally scored nine points and Jessica Minck scored eight points for the Cougars.

RIVERSIDE 56, GRANVILLE CHARTER 53: RIVERSIDE -- Sabra Wrice brought the 9-1 Rams back for the win by scoring 15 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter.

PRINCETON DAY SCHOOL 44, PURRELL 24: PRINCETON -- Rachel Scarpato managed 18 points while Marla Pfenninger scored 13 for the Panthers.

NORTHERN BURLINGTON 53, BORDENTOWN REG. 36: COLUMBUS -- The red-hot Greyhounds (10-1) ran their win streak to eight games and handed neighboring Bordentown its third loss in four games as Erin Walton scored 24 points and Erica Davis chipped in 16.

COUNCIL ROCK 61, WM. TENNENT 25: NEWTOWN, Pa. -- The Indians tuned up for today's marque matchup against Germantown Academy in the Hometown Hoops Festival at Cardinal O'Hara High in Springfield by romping to their 11th win in 15 games.

PENNSBURY 30, BENSALEM 29: CORNWELLS HEIGHTS, Pa. -- The Falcons continued their climb back to the .500 mark as they outlasted the Owls to raise their record to 6-9.
