| President Barack Obama made a stop at the Herman Park Pavillion in Boone on a three-day campaign swing through Iowa Monday afternoon. Over 2,000 area residents were bused in from the parking lot at DMACC Boone Campus for the event. "It was a great event" said Donovan Olson, who helped introduce the President. "It was a real honor to help introduce the President and talk about how much has been accomplished during the last four years." Olson said that the President spoke about ending the war in Iraq, setting the economy back on track for growth and securing healthcare for more Americans. "These important steps forward were accomplished despite the gridlock that we have in Washington," said Olson. Another special guest was Former Governor Tom Vilsack who talked about how the President is working to help agricultural producers make it through the difficulties of the drought. He said that the President is extremely concerned about the impact of the drought on farmers and told Vilsack to get the job (of helping producers) done. After leaving Boone, President Obama traveled to the Iowa State Fair and then to Marshalltown for the second day of his three-day tour. -Photo provided |
