Shawn Zanders of Coon Rapids will soon be moving into his new office at Ogden High School and taking over principal duties for grades 9 through 12. For the past 22 years Zanders has been with the Coon Rapids-Bayard school system, 10 years as a business teacher and 12 years as the 7-12 principal. Zanders says he is excited about the opportunity to grow and learn from the new people and setting. "Having been in the same conference for the past year, I am impressed with Ogden's programs and facilities," says Zanders. "The experience of competing has been positive. This was definitely an attractive opportunity." He also feels the good, positive number of open-enrolled students speaks well of the school. "My initial efforts will be to meet people and learn about our students so we can continue to chart a path that is in their best interests." Academically, Zanders says he wants to keep the students moving forward. Zanders got his undergraduate degree from Northwest Missouri State University and has a master's degree in education leadership from Iowa State University. Zanders and his wife Tina have two children, Jacob, a freshman at Iowa State University, and McKenna, a high school sophomore. His initial plans are to commute from Coon Rapids. |
