Ogden High School currently looks like a demolition zone as workers hustle to get renovations done in time for school this fall. Badding Construction out of Carroll is general contractor on the project.

So long students - hello construction workers. The minute school was dismissed for the summer construction crews got right to work on Phase II of the high school renovation project (predominately the upper and lower classroom areas). Phase I included a new kitchen addition and cafeteria as well as additional handicap parking and a sidewalk to the softball diamond. Classrooms and offices will take on a new look when students return this fall. Phase II changes include: * Renovating existing lunchroom and kitchen into an art room with 2D and 3D design art studios. * New computer lab in south end of existing cafeteria. * District offices will be relocated to the former art room. * Updates to the industrial tech classroom of the industrial arts department as well as the biology and science rooms on the upper level. * The current Spanish room is being converted to a physics/math classroom. Room 209 will be the new physics lab. * Elevator and handicap accessible restrooms on the first and second floor. * Fire exists from band and music areas as well as industrial tech classroom. "We will be having construction meetings every two weeks from now until school starts," says project manager Doug McComb. "There is a lot to be done yet. The schedule will be very tight for getting things completed before school starts, but right now we will try to have everything completed by Aug. 6." McComb gives an update on the project: As of June 20 the industrial tech classroom has been painted and cabinet and marker boards are being installed. Installation of the new door to the music room is nearly complete. The art rooms and computer lab are complete except for furnishings. Fire walls and door frames have been installed in the south stair well and fixtures will soon be in place in the handicap restrooms. Painting is in progress in the biology and physics room. Wall framing, insulation and electrical work continues in the new district office area. They have begun demolition of the front entry doors. |
