Ogden welcomes Rev. Wade Brandt and his family to the community. Rev. Brandt was ordained and installed at Zion Lutheran Church Sunday, June 17.
Rev. Brandt was born in Edgerton, WI in 1969 and graduated from Northeast Missouri State (now Truman State) in Kirksville, MO with a BS in mathematics.
He met his wife, the former Karen Knox, while in college and they were married in 1991. Rev. Brandt entered the Navy via the nuclear program and attended officer candidate school. He finished his naval career at King George, VA as a lieutenant and became a computer programmer for defense contractors. While in Virginia he studied part time to get an MS in applied mathematics from Johns Hopkins.
The couple moved to Chesterfield, MO in 2008 as Rev. Brandt began his seminary studies at the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. His vicarage was served at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Bridgeton, MO. He graduated with his Masters of Divinity in May 2012.
The Brandt family includes their children Madison, beginning college at Missouri S & T this fall, William who will be a sophomore at Ogden High School, and Dara and Justin who will continue to be home-schooled.
