With a warm winter and no snow days, graduations and end of school year schedules are playing out as planned with 208 area seniors graduating in the next 10 days. Both Guthrie Center and Adair-Casey High Schools hold graduation this Sunday, while Panorama, West Central Valley, and Coon Rapids-Bayard all wait another week until Sunday, May 20. Driven by low graduating classes at Guthrie Center, Panorama, and Adair-Casey High Schools, this is the lowest total of area graduates in five years. Guthrie Center Only 39 seniors, down from 52 last year, will walk the Pomp and Circumstance at GCHS. Graduation week began Wednesday night with Baccalaureate, and continues with Senior Brunch, 8:00 a.m., Friday, May 11 at Prime Time. Class Night follows at 6:30 p.m. with awards, scholarship presentations, and a class video. Graduation begins 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 13 in the high school gymnasium. The rest of Guthrie Center students end their school year Friday, May 18. Adair-Casey Adair-Casey graduates 17 seniors this year, down from 25 in 2011. The Bombers held their Awards and Scholarship Night May 9 with commencement scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Sunday, May 13. The remainder of Bomber students finish their school year Thursday, May 17. Coon Rapids-Bayard The Crusaders boast a graduating class of 38, up from 28 last year. They held their Awards night May 9, and continue graduation festivities with Baccalaureate at the high school at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16. Graduation begins 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, with school released for all students Wednesday, May 23. Panorama The Panthers graduate 52 this year, down five from 2011's total. Awards Night will be held 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, with Baccalaureate immediately following. Graduation will be Sunday, May 20 with the remainder of the school district finishing the school year Monday, May 21. West Central Valley Last but not least, the Wildcats graduate the largest class in the county at 62, up four from 2011 totals. Awards Night begins WCV's week of festivities at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 14. Baccalaureate follows at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16 at the United Methodist Church. Graduation is 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20. The remainder of Wildcat students hold the distinction of remaining in school longer than the rest of their county counterparts. The Wildcats' last day: Wednesday, May 23.
