GUTHRIE CENTER BOYS TRACK

At the Panorama Relays Thursday, Guthrie Center ended in fifth place.
      Tim Schachtner posted Guthrie Center's only first place when he won the 100 meter dash in 11.50. He took second in the 200 meters, 23.31. Teammate Gavin Laughery was fourth in the race, 23.98.
      Laughery was a member of the second place shuttle hurdle relay which was clocked in 1:01.94. Other hurdlers were Austin Laabs, Marcus Bolton and Eric Langford.
      In the 3200 meters, Jordan Christensen captured silver running 11:13.61. The Tigers' Eddy Halbur was fourth in the race, 11:32.07.
      Guthrie was third in the sprint relays running Schachtner, Langford, Marcus Bolton and Laughery. They were timed in 1:35.89 in the 4 x 200 and 46.84 in the 4 x 100.
      The Tigers had two place winners in the 1600 meters. Adam Courtney was fourth, 5:05.42, and Christensen sixth, 5:11.05.
      Caleb Courtney placed fourth in the 400 meters, 58.99, and Matthew Schacherer was sixth in the 400 meter hurdles, 1:04.39.

TIGER INVITATIONAL

      In their final tune up before Thursday's state qualifying meet, Guthrie Center's Tigers tied for fifth place at their own Tiger-Merritt Relays Monday.
      West Central Conference schools dominated the 15-team meet.
      The team was back to full strength with the return of senior sprinter Tim Schachtner who placed second in the 100 meters, 11.62, and fourth in the 200 meters, 23.42.
      While the Tigers didn't win any events, they did get another second place finish, that by Jordan Christensen who was runner-up in the 3200 meters in 10:53.67.
      In a third place finish, the shuttle hurdle relay team (Austin Laabs, Gavin Laughery, Marcus Bolton, Eric Langford) turned in its best performance of the season, 1:01.63. That ranks fifth among Class 1A schools.
      Besides Schachtner's 200, the Tigers posted two other fourth places, Caleb Courtney, 800 meters, 2:13.19, and the 4 x 100 relay (Langford, Schachtner, Marcus Bolton, Laughery) 46.81.
      Cody Holmes scored fifth place points in the 800 meters, 2:14.07, and Adam Courtney ran fifth in the 1600 meters, 5:00.00.
      Guthrie added a sixth place point in the 4 x 200 relay (Schachtner, Curtis Bolton, Marcus Bolton, Laughery) 1:37.09.
      "The meet provided tough competition among Class 1A and 2A teams," stated Tiger coach Bob Bolton.
