The Panora city council took steps toward the purchase of two new fire trucks and a new bucket truck for the electric department.
It set public hearings for May 14, 6:30 p.m., on entering into loan agreements for general obligation financing of the vehicles. Cost of the fire trucks is not to exceed $425,000 and the electric truck $90,000.
The fire trucks are a pumper and a tanker. There were two bids on each. Fire chief Matt Harmann recommended which bid to accept.
Buying a bucket truck now instead of later is being done to save money as soon to be initiated emission standards would push the cost higher. The new truck will be smaller than the present truck which still will be used.
