The Guthrie Center elementary school outdoor classroom renovation committee is planning a second "spring cleaning" event Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to noon. The group hopes to complete the majority of clean-up work for the arboretum and prairie areas in preparation for the all school reunion this fall. Volunteers will clear bush honeysuckle and nuisance trees away from new plantings and trails, prune trees in the arboretum, and chip secondary trails along with miscellaneous clean-up activities. Lunch will be provided. To volunteer, contact Megan Dinkla at the elementary (phone: 332-2720; email: mdink@guthrie.k12.ia.us). If you can't attend, but would like to donate food or refreshments, let her know. Students will be busy this spring, too, completing several projects including more plantings as well as construction of the new sign funded with the help of a grant from the Guthrie County Community Foundation. Visit Guthrie Center Outdoor Classroom on Facebook® to sign up for the work day, follow activities, or see pictures.
