Alondra Castorena races A-C's Paige Kingery in the 400 meters
      "I looked at some different relays and combinations and the girls came through with some good performances," said Lady Tiger track coach Dave Spratte after his team captured third place at the AHST Relays in Avoca Thursday.
      Guthrie Center won one individual event and two relays. The Lady Tigers were second in three other relays and two individual events.
      Leah Courtney was the 800 meter run winner with a 2:26.21 clocking and she anchored the two victorious relays.
      Capturing gold were the sprint medley unit (Hayley Wilson, Breanna Meier, Sydney Danker, Courtney) 4:21.11 and the sprint medley, (Wilson, Meier, Keisha Bailey, Courtney) 1:57.04.
      Runner-up relays were the 4 x 200 (Wilson, Meier, Bailey, Courtney) 1:54.11; distance medley (Wilson, Meier, Kacie Schreck, Danker) 4:45.27; and the shuttle hurdle (Wilson, Danker, Meier, Bailey) 1:11.98.
      Therese Frels ran second in the 1500 meters, 5:26.65, and the 3000 meters, 11:42.00.
      Guthrie's only other points came from a third place by Olivia Chiodo in the 3000 meters, 13:32.00, and a fourth place finish by Schreck in the 100 meter hurdles, 17.99.

Adair-Casey Relays
      Winners of seven events, Guthrie Center's Lady Tigers finished third in the Adair-Casey Relays which were run Tuesday at Gonzales-Parrish Track in Guthrie Center.
      Coach Dave Spratte's team was edged by Exira/EH-K by two points for second place.
      Guthrie's impressive showing included four relay victories and a second place.
      Three individual first places were recorded. In all, Guthrie scored in 10 events and was first or second in nine. The Lady Tigers were blanked in field events.
      First place individuals were Leah Courtney, 800 meters, 2:25.18; Therese Frels, 3000 meters, 11:42.00; and Keisha Bailey, 100 meter hurdles, 16.64.
      Relay domination by the Lady Tigers included shuttle hurdle (Hayley Wilson, Breanna Meier, Sydney Danker, Bailey) 1:11.98; 4 x 200 (Wilson Meier, Kacie Schreck, Courtney) 1:54.12; sprint medley (Wilson, Meier, Bailey, Courtney) 1:57.84; and 4 x 400 (Bailey, Meier, Danker, Courtney) 4:26.15.
      Guthrie earned second place in the distance medley (Wilson, Meier, Schreck, Danker) 4:43.88.
      Schreck added a runner-up finish in the 400 meter hurdles, 1:15.00.
      Other placings by the Lady Tigers were Frels, 1500 meters, 4th, 5:26.00, and Danker, 100 meter hurdles, 6th, 18.32.
      "The girls continue to run well. Our obbjective is to stay healthy and remain focused on our goals," said coach Spratte.
      Guthrie is scheduled to host the annual Tigerette Invitational Thursday. The Lady Tigers will run at Bondurant-Farrar Monday.
