GUTHRIE CENTER BOYS TRACK

      "We registered several personal bests and scored in nearly every event. It really was another team effort by the boys," stated Tiger coach Bob Bolton after Guthrie Center took second place at the AHST Relays in Avoca Thursday.
      The Tigers won three events, set one new meet mark, and had double place winners in four events.
      Guthrie took first and second in both the 200 meter dash and the 1600 meters. Tim Schachtner and Gavin Laughery ran 1-2 in the 200, 22.64 and 23.70. In the 1600, Adam Courtney edged teammate Eddy Halbur for first, 5:12.99 and 5:13.78.
      Running Marcus Bolton, Laughery, Curtis Bolton and Schachtner, Guthrie set a new meet mark in the 4 x 200, 1:38.05.
      Individual second place winners were Schachtner, 100 meters, 11.30; Marcus Bolton, high jump, 5'8", and Halbur, 3200 meters, 11:18.99. Fifth in the 3200 meters was Ethan Tromp, 12:45.78.
      Runner-up relay for the Tigers were the 4 x 800 (Jordan Christensen, Cody Holmes, Caleb Courtney, Adam Courtney) 9:14.27 and the distance medley (Jack Wilson, Curtis Bolton, Marcus Bolton, Holmes) 4:00.87.
      The Tigers also had double place winners in the 800 meters where Caleb Courtney was third, 2:14.52, and Christensen fourth, 2:18.11.
      The Tigers took third in the 4 x 100 relay (Marcus Bolton, Laughery, Curtis Bolton, Schachtner) 46.80.
      The 4 x 400 relay team (Wilson, Holmes, Adam Courtney, Austin Laabs) ran fourth in 3:55.90.
      Also placing for the Tigers were Laabs, fifth, 400 meters, 58.21, and Matthew Schacherer, sixth, 400 meter hurdles, 1:05.71.

Adair-Casey Relays
      At the Adair-Casey Relays run at Guthrie Center Tuesday, the Tigers settled for fifth place.
      Guthrie ran second in a pair of relay events, the 4 x 200 (Marcus Bolton, Gavin Laughery, Curtis Bolton and Tim Schachtner) 1:37.84 and the shuttle hurdle (Marcus Bolton, Laughery, Austin Laabs and Eric Langford) 1:05.11.
      Adam Courtney took second and Jordan Christensen fourth in the 1600 meter run, 5:02.77 and 5:09.72.
      Third places were recorded by Laughery in the 200 meters, 24.32, and the distance medley relay (Jack Wilson, Curtis Bolton, Marcus Bolton, Cody Holmes) 4:01.04.
      Scoring fourth place points for the Tigers were Caleb Courtney, 800 meters, 2:12.41; Marcus Bolton, high jump, 5'8"; and 4 x 800 relay (Christensen, Holmes, Caleb Courtney, Adam Courtney) 9:08.28.
      Coming in sixth for Guthrie was Matthew Schacherer in the 400 meter hurdles, 1:04.15.
      The Tigers' next meet is Monday at Jefferson-Scranton.
