On November 22, the Watertown Youth Hockey Squirt A team was defeated by Hamden, 2-1.The game was scoreless until the third period, when Hamden lit the red light with two quick goals.With one minute left in regulation, Watertown pulled goalie Billy Scovill out of the net, took advantage of a Hamden penalty and skated six-on-four.
Jared Boutot scored at the buzzer on pass from Dillon Sanzari, but it was not quite enough.
Scovill made 29 saves in the net for the Redwings, who are now 6-7-5.
On November 21, the Squirt A's defeated the Northwestern As by a score of 2-0.
Sanzari scored the first goal, assisted by Ben Affenito; Emma Killeen scored the second, assisted by Boutot and Affenito.
Scovill made 15 saves in the net for Watertown; Shawn Danaher, Peter Kenerson and Nicholas LaBella played well.
On November 20, Watertown lost to the Greenwich Squirt A's, 4-1.
Affenito scored the lone goal for the Wings; Hunter Shay, Johnny Fox, Jake Perda and Joey Harris played well defensively, while Scovill made 12 saves in the Watertown net.
NOTES: Watertown Youth Hockey will be hosting its' 38th annual Thanksgiving Weekend Tournament at the Mays and Odden Rinks from November 27-29.
Teams from throughout Connecticut will be participating in the tournament, which will feature competition in Squit, Pee Wee, Mite and Bantam Divisions, with 56 games in all.
