Eden native Mike Jaspers will speak at the Veterans Day program scheduled for Amacher Auditorium in Britton on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m.
Jaspers was raised on the family farm near Eden and attended Roslyn High School and South Dakota State University. He worked as an agri-business manager in northeast South Dakota for seven years, served eight years in the South Dakota State Legislature, and was appointed in 2007 to serve as the state director for USDA's Rural Development Agency in South Dakota.
The Veterans Day speaker currently owns and operates a corn, soybean, and alfalfa farming operation near Bridgewater and is a part of his family's cattle operation near Eden. He lives near Sioux Falls with his wife, Robin, and children, Ellie and Alex.
Pastor Deb Mack will deliver the invocation and benediction, the Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, the Britton-Hecla kindergarten class will lead the Star Spangled Banner played by the grades 7-12 band, and the Britton-Hecla Jazz Choir will perform.
