The Wright County Supervisors held a pre-construction meeting Monday for drainage work planned in DD#181-9 in Section 13 of Blaine Township north of Dows. The work includes 4,000 feet of 24-inch plastic pipe along with lateral connections and hooking to the existing 18-inch pipe. Digging will start as soon as the crops are out in that area, with an estimate of three weeks to complete the project with favorable weather. County Engineer Dan Waid told the supervisors his crews still have blading work to do this week on the gravel roads. "They will continue to improve with drier weather this week." In other action the board: --received the rollback numbers for 2009 property valuations, which will affect property taxes paid in the fall of 2010 and the spring of 2011. For agricultural property, excluding dwellings on ag land, the rollback will be 66.27 percent, and for residential, including ag dwellings, it will be 46.91 percent; --judged the entries for the county Design A Flag contest. There were 65 designs submitted, including entries from Clarion-Goldfield middle school and high school students. Karla Pals of Belmond was declared the winner. All entries will be on display at the courthouse.
