"I hope it's one of our local customers," said Dennis Olson, owner of the Korner Stop in Barron after learning that someone who recently stopped at his convenience store bought a Powerball ticket worth $20,000.
Olson said that as of Tuesday morning no one had called him to say they had won the money. He said someone representing the lottery had called him about the $20,000 winner.
"There's a lot of interest," Olson said. "I've been getting calls from people everywhere wondering who the winner is."
A ticket bought at Korner Stop for the Saturday Powerball drawing matched four of the five numbers plus the Powerball number, which made the ticket worth $10,000. The ticket's worth shot up to $20,000 when it also had the Power Play prize multiplier number, which was 2.
The winning numbers were 14,22, 38,49 and 59. The Powerball number was 16.
There's plenty of prize money left. Because no one hit all five numbers, the jackpot moved to an estimated $41 million on Wednesday. Move over Warren Buffett!
