After meeting in closed session with city attorney Jeff Bump, the Panora city council Monday approved sending a letter to Cornhusker Insurance of Omaha, NE saying legal action may be taken if the company doesn't pay for legal expenses from a lawsuit.
Over $30,000 is being sought by the city. this is some one-half of the legal expenses incurred by the city, according to city administrator Lisa Grossman. Cornhusker was a former city insurance carrier. The unsuccessful lawsuit, which reached the Iowa Supreme Court, was filed by a Panora couple claiming access to an alley had been restricted by a neighbor and the city.
