Flying high: banners to be hung in spring

The City of Chetek will be brighter when new business-promoting banners go up this spring.
All local businesses were invited to sponsor the flags, which highlight Chetek's water, woods and fishing. Banners will hang from city-owned hardware from spring through fall.

Owners who haven't ordered a banner have until Saturday to get their money to Clerk Carmen Newman.

The city council approved a request to look into banners in May. Council members favored dressing up the town; they also waived off-premise sign fees to give owners a way to advertise.

Letters went out to all businesses in June.

Creative Concepts designed the 30-foot by 60-foot vinyl flags, which cost $125. They have an 18-month (continuous) or four-season warranty.

The city has received payments from the following 22 businesses:

B and B Bar & Grill, Bob's Grill, Chetek Bakery, Chetek Therapy & Fitness, Dairy Queen, First National Bank, GTC Auto, Indianhead Insurance, Jennings, Cote & Wieckowicz LLC, Kirkwood's Market, Kwik Trip, Lake Country Tool & Design, Lamperts, Luther Midelfort Northland, Midwest Dental, Northlakes Drive In, Ohde Health Mart Pharmacy, Red Cedar Electric, Red's, Rod & Gun Sport Shop, The Chetek Alert and Wisconsin Indian Head Country.

To order a banner or for information, contact Newman at 924-4838.
