GROTON, Conn. - A hydraulic tree spade lowers a 25-foot blue spruce into position at Naval Submarine Base New London's (SUBASE) Dealey Center Plaza, Oct. 14. The evergreen was transferred from Foster, R.I., by Treeark of Storrs, Conn. The tree, which will be the center point of the plaza's Holiday Lights Festival, is scheduled to be lit Dec. 4. The planting of the new tree was a joint venture between SUBASE's Public Works Department as well as Kendall Excavation, KMK Construction, and Berry Land Clearing, contracting companies.
