A series of nine burglaries was solved Oct. 13 with the arrest of Christopher Wayne Hildebran, 19, of Graham. According to Capt. Brad Smith of the Bradford County Sheriff's Office, Hildebran was already a suspect in the Graham area burglaries when he was spotted by an Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputy, driving a truck reported stolen in one of the burglaries. Hildebran stopped the truck and fled the scene before he could be arrested, but a juvenile passenger in the truck was apprehended. The juvenile provided information that led to the positive identification of Hildebran as the driver, said Capt. Smith. Learning he had been identified, Hildebran turned himself in to the Alachua County Sheriff's Office and was transferred to the Bradford County Jail on Oct. 13. According to Investigator Kevin Mueller, Hildebran has been tied to the burlgaries of nine different residences. He allegedly stole the truck and three dirt bikes from the residences, as well as two .22-caliber rifles, one .38-caliber pistol, multiple GPS systems, XM radios, flashlights, and numerous other items. Investigator Mueller also said Hildebran has now been tied to two additional motor vehicle thefts that occurred approximately two months ago. Hildebran was booked on three counts of grand theft auto, two counts of grand theft, two counts of armed burglary, one count of burglary of a conveyance, and one count of attempting to conspire. Investigator Mueller said two more counts of grand theft auto are pending in relation to the two additional motor vehicle thefts Hildebran has been tied to. Total bond on the charges was set at $110,000 and Hildebran remained in the Bradford County Jail as of press time.
