Police are searching for Jose Sanchez, 39, after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face, forced her to drive with him in her car, and threatened to kill her, ultimately fleeing police.
Police received a 911 call at 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 15 from the alleged victim, who said Sanchez had showed up outside her Oakwood Ave. workplace and started yelling at her, grabbing her hair and punching her in the face, grabbing her car keys, and forcing her to drive the vehicle with him in it.
At some point during the drive, she said, he threatened to kill her. At her request, Sanchez allowed her to stop on Caya Avenue at a client's house to administer the client medication, where she phoned police.
Officers arrived at the scene and attempted to make contact with Sanchez, but he drove off as they approached his gray Buick. Although they followed him, the pursuit was ultimately called off. He was last seen exiting I-84 east using the Asylum Avenue exit.
If caught, Sanchez, possibly of 32 Huntington Ave. in Hartford, will be charged with second-degree kidnapping, carjacking, third-degree assault, threatening, breach of peace, violation of a protective order, engaging in a police pursuit, and operating under suspension.
