On Saturday the second annual Fire Ops 101 was held in Fairfield; the program was developed by the International Association of Firefighters to help its member locals across the country educate their community leaders on the challenges and demands faced by first responders.
Elected and appointed officials from Easton, Fairfield, Stratford and Westport including State Representatives Kim Fawcett and Tony Hwang dressed out in full firefighting personal protective equipment and led by firefighters from their respective departments through a number of emergency scenarios designed to demonstrate some of the challenges faced by first responders every day, according to Local 1426 President Bob Smith.
