With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month Curves in Kalona is offering their "Join for FREE" special Oct 19-24. Even in "small town America" such as Kalona women find Curves exercise gyms. Curves gyms focus on women's health in general while creating an inviting place for women from all walks of life to meet their individual health goals!
Curves offers a complete fitness and nutrition solution specifically designed for women. Extensive research on both the short- and long-term effects of the Curves program continues to be conducted through the Women's Health and Fitness Initiative by researchers at Texas A&M University Exercise and Sports Nutrition Laboratory. As a result of these studies the Curves program is being continuously refined to improve the overall health and well being of women.
Research at Texas A&M has demonstrated that the Curves program is effective at helping women lose weight, gain muscle strength and aerobic capacity, increase bone density, and raise metabolism.
With Curves celebrating almost seven years in Kalona, owner Jane Davis said, "There have been numerous occasions when medical results have been shared by members showing improved health since exercising regularly at Curves. Improved results, for example, with bone density and blood pressure as well as healthier blood sugar levels for those with diabetes have been seen. There is a lot of information available stating what exercise is suppose to do so when a member comes to me with improved results from a medical test she has just had, we celebrate with her!"
Curves supports women in meeting their health goals through an effective 30 minute exercise program and now a monthly free weight management class. While observing women on the Curves circuit in Kalona one can see that the Curves philosophy embraces women of all ages (the oldest member in Kalona is 91 years old and the youngest is 15 years old), all sizes and fitness levels. For women who are new to exercise traditional gyms can be intimidating and time consuming. Curves, however, provides a safe, efficient and effective workout for women in a comfortable, warm and welcoming environment. Curves assists women in improving their health as they commit to exercising on a regular basis with a goal of better health including cancer prevention which is the focus during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
Enhancing the Curves workout in Kalona the past year has been CurvesSmartª, a personal coaching system which individualizes and customizes each workout by monitoring work out intensity and range of motion and then providing a progress report.
Curves is the largest fitness franchise in the world with nearly 10,000 locations in over 60 countries and the first fitness and weight loss facility designed for women. With a Curves membership in one location such as Kalona you may have the use of all other Curves facilities worldwide.
