After losing the first game 25-17, the Mid-Prairie girls dug down deep and got to work.
In the second game, The Hawks took an early lead, getting four consecutive serves from freshman Olivia Lugar to take a 6-3 lead. The Hawks got a pair of aces from freshman Mallory McArtor and senior Kelsey Fuhr and extended their lead to 10-5 before the Regals bounced back to tie the game 11-11.
The Golden Hawks and Regals battled back and forth, staying knotted through 19-19 before the Golden Hawks got a pair of kills from Lugar and one from senior Kendra Kramer to go up 23-20. Powerful hitter Kelsey Fuhr ended the game with an exclamation point, killing the ball straight down into the ground at the middle of the net for a 25-22 second-game M-P win.
In the third game, the Golden Hawks dropped behind 0-5 before fighting back and tying the game at 10-10 on an ace from senior setter Kate Yoder. The teams battled to a 23-23 tie before Regina got what they needed when senior hitter #6 Jordyn Akers rotated into the front row to put the game away, 25-23.
In the fourth game, The Golden Hawks stormed out to a 4-0 lead, getting a kill from Kelsey Fuhr and an ace from senior back row specialist Kelsey Berg. Regina battled back to make it a 4-4 game and the teams remained tied through 8-8, before Kendra Kramer knocked down consecutive kills for an 11-9 Mid-Prairie lead. The Regals battled back again - and the teams locked scores at 12-12 and traded serves though a 24-24 tie. After a Regina error, the Golden Hawks got the break they needed, when Lugar aced her serve to give M-P the two-point 26-24 win.
The match came down to the tie-breaker, with the M-P and Regina girls battling to a 12-12 tie before the Regals got Akers in the front row again and put things away 15-13.
