Harlan man charged with child endangerment
By: 10/14/2009
HARLAN -- A 32-year-old Harlan man faces assault and child endangerment charges following an alleged incident September 11 in Harlan.
James Lyle Behrens, 1207 Orange Rd., has been cited with the misdemeanor and felony charges, and faces up to six years in jail, with additional fines totaling $6,500.
According to court documents, Behrens allegedly became violent, yelling and screaming at Amy Petersen while at her house picking up belongings. He allegedly grabbed her head and began shaking her.
During the incident, Petersen was holding an 11-month-old baby, who received welts on her shoulder, a scratch on her wrist and redness to the arm, documents said.
Trial has been set for November 17.
