"When I took over the job I asked my department heads to take a look at what they were doing to take care of the Sailors on the waterfront and if they needed to spend their time elsewhere," said Captain Marc W. Denno, SUBASE Commanding Officer.
FFSC took this to heart and with the assistance of the base Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) took action. Starting this week, FFSC customers began receiving a choice of where they could meet with a staff member for financial, employment and transition services. The FFSC Waterfront Center shares space with the NSSC Career Management Center, MWR Deployed Forces Office and Lower Base Fitness Center.
The FFSC Waterfront Mobile Service Center will offer appointments in financial management, job search and resume preparation, and administering the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Assessment to help Sailors understand their work style and learn how to interact with others who have a different style. Also, FFSC provides meetings with MWR Deployed Forces personnel to discuss exercise equipment purchase and repair, planning recreational events for boats, assistance with holiday parties, homecoming activities and Library Multimedia Resource Center needs.
The hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon for FFSC, and Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for MWR Deployed Forces. For more information on the FFSC Waterfront Center located in the Career Management Center in Building 88, call Tricia Hoskins, FFSC Work and Family Life Supervisor, at (860) 694-3383.
