HARLAN -- Three Harlan residents, including the incumbent mayor, have thrown their hat into the ring, hoping to become Harlan's next mayor this November.
Incumbent Gary Christiansen, long-time mayor of Harlan, is being challenged by two newcomers. On the ballot will be Christiansen, David Tyrrel and Joshua A. Gear.
Three incumbent members of the Harlan City Council have filed nomination papers to retain their council positions, and will run unopposed. They include Keith A. Kaufman, ward 1; Orval B. Roecker, ward 3; and Aaron Anliker, at-large Center Township.
