Ogden's grades 5-12 begin Thursday; grades K-4, Friday The Ogden Reporter introduces you to Ogden Community School District's new personnel for the 2009-2010 school year. KEN VIGDAL Ken Vigdal has been hired as the technology coordinator and will be head football coach of the Bulldogs. His hometown is Armstrong. Vigdal taught in Ogden from 1990 through 1997 then took a position at Sioux Center where he has been coaching and teaching for the past 12 years. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota and a Masters Degree from Morningside College in Sioux City. He and his wife Deb have one son, Thomas, who will be a senior at OHS. Vigdal says he is excited to be back in Ogden. JOHN KNOOT John Knoot of New Sharon will be teaching special education in the fifth and sixth grades and will assist seventh and eighth grade girls track. He spent three years as a fifth and sixth grade math teacher at Ogden Middle School and spent four years at the University of Iowa's School of the Wild. Knoot got his BA in elementary education at the University of Iowa and a Masters of Education in science education from Iowa State University. His wife Tricia is a post-doctoral researcher. Their children are Aysha, 4, and Kai, 1. "It's great to be back in the Ogden community with a fresh perspective on what makes our schools impressive," says Knoot. MIKE MOSES Mike grew up in Cedarburg, WI, and although he has taught the last 20 years at Sacred Heart School in Boone, is very familiar with the Ogden School system having coached several sports here. Moses will take over duties as the K-8 physical education instructor and continue as head high school softball coach, head junior high girls basketball coach and assistant junior high football coach. His education includes a BS from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. He has additional education through Iowa State, Drake and Viterbo Universities. He and his wife Cindy (employed at AEA 11) have three children, Katie, 23; Emily 21; and Maddie, 12. "I am very excited to be teaching in Ogden," says Moses, "and I'm looking forward to working with the staff and children in the Ogden School District." |
