More than 50 new or expecting moms were the recipients of baby shower gifts Saturday at Assemblywoman Grace Meng’s Flushing office.
Cosponsored by New York Hospital Queens, the event was open to all low-income mothers. Backpacks were filled with goodies such as bibs, pajamas and books to read to infants.

The three-hour shower was part of the hospital’s efforts to provide families with prenatal to post-childbirth care.
Meng, center, who is expecting her second child in September, wanted to help assist those in need during tough economic times.
