A Brandon family will bring Branson-style entertainment to Brookhaven Friday when they perform at The Haven.

CandyLee and Camea Dobbs are "Steppin Out" with The Starlight Sound at 7 p.m. at the theater on West Cherokee Street.

Camea, 18, and CandyLee, 11, are the daughters of Kevin and Tahya Dobbs, the granddaughter of Brookhaven native Othel Anding, and the great-granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Denver Anding, who still live in Lincoln County.

Camea is a freshman at Mississippi College majoring in broadcasting and journalism.

"She sings a lot of old country, like Patsy Cline," said Tahya Dobbs. "CandyLee sings a lot of old standards that everyone loves. They both do patriotic and gospel songs."

Dobbs said "Steppin Out" seemed like an appropriate title for their first self-promoted event.

"Even though they've done a lot of shows, they've always been invited. This is the first time we're doing the inviting," she said.

Greg Russell, executive director of the Brookhaven Little Theatre, said he was proud the girls chose The Haven for their show.

"I haven't seen them, but we look forward to the show," he said. "Everything we've heard about them has been very good."

Russell said "Steppin Out" is one of the first shows to be presented on The Haven's stage that was not a BLT production. It represents a new direction for the theatre.

"We are working hard to make our theatre more accessible to the public," he said.

Event tickets, which are $10, are available at the door of The Haven or may be purchased at A Designer's Florist.
