State Sen. Joe Addabbo Jr. (D-Howard Beach) announced this week he will host a job fair on Friday, Aug. 21 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at The Shops at Atlas Park, located on Cooper Avenue and 80th Street in Glendale. The fair is free and open to the public. The Q54 bus stops directly outside Atlas Park and free street parking or paid parking on the premises is also available.
As the unemployment rate in New York City soared to 9.3 percent last month, those looking to get back into the job market are encouraged to dress in business attire and bring a surplus of resumes to the fair.

Scheduled workshops include “Ace your Interview” at 10:30 a.m., “Employment Search” at 11:30 a.m., “Resume Building” at 12:30 p.m. and “Green Jobs Training” at 1:30 p.m.
To date, the following companies have confirmed their attendance with more expected to attend the event: Catholic Charities, City University of New York, New York City Fire Department, Internal Revenue Service, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of New York, Jet Blue, Non-Traditional Employment for Women, America Works, AXA Financial, Delta Airlines, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, HeartsShare Human Services of New York, Counsel for Aiport Opportunity, Aflac, New York Families for Autistic Children and Capture GIS.
