GROTON, Conn.- Captain Mark Ginda, Commander Naval Submarine Base New London signs a student's shirt and shares a long goodbye with students following the Flag Day ceremony held at Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School on June 18. During the year military volunteers have gone to SUBASE's partnership school to participate in wellness breaks with the students. On the ever anticipated last day of school before summer vacation, the children were joined by sailors from SUBASE to watch the ceremonious lowering and folding of the flag. The children said their goodbyes to Ginda by singing "Anchors Aweigh", which they learned just for the occasion. Ginda had always been very involved with student activities at the school. He will be greatly missed by the students and staff at Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School as he makes his way to Washington, D.C.
