Liquor licenses and fireworks permits were the main agenda items for the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting Wednesday, June 10.
The board approved three liquor license applications for renewal and short term periods. The application for the renewal of the State liquor license for the Washington Golf and Country Club was approved. An application for a 5 Day State liquor license submitted by the Washington Casino and Resort LLC at Riverside was approved. The license is for the Hoverally '09 event to be held June 19 to 21 at the Sandpit Lake south of the Casino across Hwy. 22. That property is not in the Riverside City Limits and thus the application through the county was required. An application submitted by Ice House Bar and Grill of Riverside for a 14 Day State liquor license was approved. The license will allow liquor sales at two wedding events to be held at the Holy Trinity Parish Center in Richmond.
The board voted to table the appointment of a new member to the Washington County Veteran Affairs Commission until the next meeting. Supervisor Vice Chairperson Wes Rich presiding at the meeting in the absence of Chairperson Miksch, asked for the motion as Supervisor Miksch desired to provide input during the discussion of the appointment.
Two personnel change requests from the Sheriff's Department were approved by the board. The payroll method for Karla Davis and Stan Stoops will change from salaried to hourly.
The board approved three fireworks permit applications. An event will be held at Shiloh near Kalona on Friday evening July 3. Brett Swift of Washington will conduct an event at the pond located at 2635 Hwy. 1 South on July 10. An event will be held on Saturday night June 20 at the Alan Fladung residence at 1555 180th St. Wellman.
