Security equals peace of mind

More often than he would like, Lance Oseff installs a security system in a home after misfortune has struck. After the hard lesson is learned, people want to be protected against break-ins, fires or other disasters.
But Oseff, who runs Security Central Alarm Services out of 97-49 Woodhaven Blvd. in Ozone Park, knows it does not need to be that way. His installed systems, connected to a central station alarm monitoring center, can protect valuable property from harm before trouble arrives.

More than 98 percent of his business comes via referrals, and with a small team of employees, Oseff can provide the personal service necessary when it comes to an installation as inherently private as a homeowner’s security alarm system.
“With other, larger companies, you might have a different person estimating the job, another person installing it, and then another person servicing it after that,” Oseff said. “With my company, I am estimating it. I am installing it. With me, they feel more comfortable and secure.”
Oseff provides a variety of services for homeowners. There are your basic alarm systems, which are outfitted with an alarm siren that sounds when an attempted break-in occurs. Most times, the sound of an alarm is enough to scare away potential burglars. If not, the central monitoring station is still notified, and they are tasked with dispatching police. The fire department is called in the event of a blaze.
Another protection option is an intercom, which allows residents to speak to visitors safely from within their home instead of opening the door to unwelcome guests. A video intercom allows someone to view the person or persons outside.
Surveillance is also a popular option for business owners, who during vacation want to sneak a peek back into the office with the help of a digital recording system viewable by internet. And in the event of a break-in, the video can be made to rewind and play back the event. Homeowners are taking advantage of this system, as well.
Oseff, who serves the entire New York City metropolitan area, cannot stress enough the importance of securing a home. Along with the peace of mind that comes with knowing property, as well as loved ones, are protected, having an alarm system can provide a discount on homeowner’s insurance.
“It’s important to secure your home and your business,” Oseff said. “For preventative reasons, it’s better to have a system installed before something happens.”
