At a special meeting on Wednesday, March 27 the Mid-Prairie School Board offered a contract to Cindy Steege of North Liberty to be the district's new assistant business manager. Ê
This position was created when the Mid-Prairie Board agreed to share the services of district business manager, Doug Slaubaugh, with the Keota School District. Ê
Steege will start her duties June 22 with an annual salary of $50,000.
Steege currently is a bookkeeper for the ÊSolon Community School District, a position she has held for three years. ÊShe holds a bachelor's degree from Coe College and is a member of the Iowa Association of School Business Officials (IASBO). ÊShe currently has completed two years of the four-year Iowa School Business Manager Academy sponsored by IASBO. Ê
According to Mark Schneider, Mid-Prairie Superintendent, Steege's experience in another school district's business office will serve Mid-Prairie well.
"Solon uses the same school accounting software as Mid-Prairie and she has been through two school district financial audits," Êstated Schneider, who added that Steege comes highly recommended and is noted especially for her professionalism, initiative, calm approach, and ability to communicate with staff.
Steege will assume the role of district business manager after Slaubaugh's retirement. ÊHe had previously announced that he would be retiring during the Summer of 2010.
