Melvin, Ocheyedan Memorial Day observances

06/02/2009
Members of Melvin's Legion march into Baker township cemetery at the start of Monday's Memorial Day observance. Ocheyedan Legion members fire off a 21-gun salute to fallen comrades.
Col. Gaylen Rozenboom (ret.) gave the memorial address at Melvin which also featured the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn marching band and second grader Alex McDougall reciting the Gettysburg Address. Flags dedicated by the post were for William (Bill) Olseen, Arlin Brandt, Roger Miller, Rhonda Keller, Delbert Schultz and Duaine Keller.

Ninth District chaplain Jim Kessler of Lake Park gave the address of the day at Ocheyedan's ceremony. S-O second graders recited the Gettysburg Address and the Sibley-Ocheyedan played musical selections. Flags dedicated at Ocheyedan were for Craven Kleve and Art Loerts.
Several Legion and Auxiliary members gave remarks at both observances as well.
