Board Hires Finance Clerk
By: Leda Quirke 05/20/2009
OXFORD - The Board of Selectmen last week voted to hire resident Eve Detzer to fill a position as part-time clerk in the Finance Department.

The position is budgeted at $14,000 and includes working with the finance director, James Hliva, on policies and procedures and performing bank reconciliations.

Ms. Detzer also will assist the town bookkeeper, Ann Cummings, with accounts payable and payroll.

At a recent meeting with the town attorney, First Selectman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers noted that she received 97 resumes from persons interested in the position.

She said the list was whittled to ten persons, all of whom were interviewed.

Ms. Detzer, a resident of Maple Tree Hill Road, has extensive experience as an office administrator, accounting manager, sales manager and instructor-trainer.

Most recently, she was employed by HNG Real Estate, LLC, in Newtown as an administrative assistant.

She also has worked for a dental practice, a telecommunications company, a telemarketing company and an insurance agency.

Ms. Detzer was scheduled to begin work Monday, May 18, for $16.82 per hour.
