Dale V. Knowles, 93, of Iowa City died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City due to aging.
Services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Iowa City Church of Christ with Pastor Tom Steele, Pastor Gary D. Cradic, and Pastor Richard M. Ellis officiating. Burial was in Frytown Cemetery.
Dale V. Knowles was born August 7, 1915 in Hubbard, Iowa, the son of Victor and Elizabeth Knowles. He received a BA at Cincinnati Bible Seminary and served as minister at the Frytown Church of Christ from 1972-1985. He enjoyed writing and publishing poetry. He was united in marriage to Ethel Mae (Dearie) Wickersham-Brown on December 14, 1941.
He is survived by his children: Rebecca Tanberg of Iowa City, Victor Knowles of Joplin, Missouri, Muriel Paregien of Kingsport, Tennessee; Bonnie McGlumphry of Iowa City, David Knowles of Morristown, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother Boyd Knowles of Coarsegold, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ethel (Dearie) Knowles; brothers Lyle and Troy Knowles and one sister Lois Halatyn.
