Band Katie Fillmore received a perfect score on her alto saxophone solo and was chosen outstanding performer in her center at the state solo and ensemble contest Saturday, April 4 at Gilbert. Another alto saxophone solo, by Sarah Schrum, also received a perfect score. Overall Ogden band students had 14 Division I ratings; 15 Division II ratings; and five Division III ratings. Those receiving Division I ratings were: Marcus Heineman, bari sax solo; Rachel Boettcher, alto sax solo; Allison Melchert, trumpet solo; Tara Clark, marimba solo; saxophone ensemble - Schrum, K. Fillmore, Chelsea Germer, Boettcher, Heineman. Ally Fillmore, hand bell solo; saxophone duet - Boettcher, K. Fillmore; Elly Adams, trumpet solo; Josh Peter, trumpet solo; woodwind choir - Olivia Diggs, Brianna Christle, Kourtney Marlow, Amanda Bailey, Breanna Dailey, Schrum, K. The students are under the direction of Nate Newhard. Vocal OHS senior Tyler Buck was named outstanding performer in Center 2 of the State Solo and Ensemble Contest. "I thought this would be a very tough contest with some outstanding vocal programs going toe to toe," said director Dave Larsen. "The judging was tough but fair. My students showed great attitudes and a continued dedication to music." Vocal soloists receiving a "I" or superior rating were Amber Breitbarth, Ashton Van Sickle, Ashley Bebb, Buck, Caitlyn Van Hemert and Josiah Reutter. All three vocal duets got top ratings: Becca Duncan/Bebb; Buck/Reutter; Germer/Reimers. Ensembles receiving superior ratings were the OHS chamber choir; the Madrigal; girls ensemble including Clark, Handeland, Van Hemert, Pritchard, Lawler and Bebb; girls triple trio including Clark, Breitbarth, Rubin, Olesen, Ally Fillmore, Reimers, Germer, Lawler and Bebb; and the mixed ensemble of Clark, Buck, Reutter, Bebb, Lawler, Rinker and Andrew Heineman. Soloists receiving a "II" or excellent rating were Brandon Brend, Deon Ashby, Allison Melchert, Thad Satre, Baylee Elsberry, Katie Olesen, Kurtis Cleveland, Tara Clark, Colton Good, Skyler Rinker, Luther Thompson, Alison Lawler, Ashlei Pritchard, Chelsea Germer, Alyssa Handeland, Marcus Heineman, Taryn Reimers, Melanie Rubin and Andrew Heineman. Also receiving excellent ratings were the freshman girls triple trio of Melchert, Marissa Elsberrry, Aubrey Hunter, Breitbarth, Sierra Richmond, Bailey Alexander, Katie Stahr, Ashlea Teter and Jill Powers; the girls ensemble of Duncan, Reimers, Germer, Rachel Boettcher, Rubin, Olesen, Fillmore, Olivia Diggs, Baylee Elsberry; and the men's group composed of Satre, Rinker, Van Sickle, Colton Good, Conner Anderson, Buck, A.
