Madison High School, Madison Middle School and Dakota State University will be buzzing with activity on Friday and Saturday. An estimated 300 to 400 students are expected to arrive on Friday for the 42st annual Karl E. Mundt Forensic Invitational Tournament.
The event features dramatic, humorous and duo interpretation events; novice and varsity oratory events; domestic, international and novice extemporaneous speaking; policy debate; Lincoln-Douglas debate; and public forum debate.
The winners of each varsity division event will be eligible for a $500 scholarship from the Dakota State University Foundation following graduation if they elect to attend DSU as a full-time student.
Additionally, one student from each winning sweepstakes team (one for Class AA and one for Class A) will be eligible for a $750 scholarship following graduation if they choose to attend DSU as a full-time student.
Friday kicks off with interp, oratory and extemporaneous events in the afternoon. Policy debate begins at 5:30 p.m. with novice rounds at MHS.
Novice policy debate continues Saturday at MHS, along with public forum debate at DSU. Lincoln-Douglas debate will be held at MHS and MMS.
