Doris Adeline Crossett, 84, of Keota, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Maplewood Manor in Keota following a short illness.
Services were held on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Wellman with Pastor Mark Larson officiating. Burial was in the Wellman Cemetery.
Doris Adeline Crossett was born September 1, 1924 in Sigourney, Iowa the daughter of Clayton Thomas and Sophia (Duensing) Lowe. She graduated from Sigourney High School. On October 4, 1941 she was united in marriage to Joseph Junior Crossett in Memphis, Missouri. They lived in Wellman, before moving to Princeton, Kentucky in 1961, then to LaGrange, Missouri in 1969 and in 1971 they moved to Washington. She worked in the kitchen at Halcyon House and the Washington Care Center until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Crossett is survived by 8 children: Judy and husband Dennis Baumert of Keota, Helen Jones of Hazel, Tennessee, Michael and wife Cecelia Crossett of Wichita, Kansas, Robert and wife Judy Crossett of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Ray and wife Deanna Crossett of Quincy, Illinois, Jeffrey Crossett of Keota, Danny Crossett of Ankeny, Kevin and wife Judie Crossett of Ainsworth; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters: Vernalda Yahn of Richland, Eileen Ansley of Newton, Eva Thayer of Madison, Indiana; 3 brothers: Bernard Lowe of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jack Lowe of Swisher, and Don Lowe of Cabet, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph in May 1988; a son Mark; infant daughter Rebecca; 2 sisters Louise and Jean; and 2 brothers Bert and Roy.
A memorial fund has been established for Washington County Hospice.
