The Connecticut Wolves (8-2-4) came into their game Friday at Hershey Park with an opportunity to replace the Hershey Wildcats (9-2-3) as the first place team in the A-League's Northern Conference. Unfortunately, due to many missed opportunities, the Wolves came away with a 0-0 tie to remain in second place, just 3 points behind the conference-leading Wildcats.

Both teams began the first 15 minutes of the game sluggishly, failing to create any quality scoring opportunities. In the 20th minute things began to go more favorably for the Wolves. The Wolves' Fabio Zuniga beat Hershey defender Chad Evans at the edge of the eighteen yard box only to be taken down by Evans before he had an opportunity to wind up for his shot. The ensuing free kick was taken by Wolves Temoc

Suarez.Suarez, who has been a master of free kicks from with 25 yards, blasted a shot that struck the top of the crossbar and caromed out of play.Just ten minutes later, pin point passing by Zuniga and Paul Oyuga led to a cross to an all alone Suarez at the edge of the six yard box.Suarez did well to get a head on the ball, sending it just over the top of the bar.The Widcats' best chance of the first half came when Hershey forward, Ben Olson (on loan from DC United), beat two Wolves defenders and blasted a shot right at Wolves goalkeeper, Adam Throop.

The first 30 minutes of the second half was very evenly played resulting in few scoring opportunities. The Wolves substituted Irasto Knights for Temoc Suarez in the 78th minute to add some fresh legs to the front line.Immediately the tone of the game changed. In his first possession Knights beat three Hershey defenders then drove a shot over the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Knights received a through ball from Oyuga, took a touch and then hit his shot into the outside of the side netting.A scare for the Wolves came in the 83rd minute when Hershy forward, Christof Lindenmayer got behind the Wolves defense only to blast a shot just past the outside of the far post.

The first overtime was uneventful, both teams seemed content in playing conservatively, putting players behind the ball on defense, looking to counter. Each team was dispossessed as they entered the other's defensive third.

The second overtime began as the first one ended with both teams putting a majority of their team in front of their respective goal. The best scoring opportunity for either team came on a Wolves defensive miscue.A routine header back to Wolves goalkeeper, Adam Throop became an adventure when Wolves defender, Tony Soto, didn't hear Throop call for the ball.Soto headed the ball towards the Wolves goal as Adam Throop was making his way to the top of the eighteen to collect it.Throop was forced to scramble backwards only to watch the ball roll wide of the net.
