Born in Lilly, Pa., Mr. Tancredi lived most of his life as a resident of Trenton and Lawrenceville.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific operational area.
Bill retired in 1977 after 10 years as a civilian contractor with the U.S. Department of the Navy as an electrical engineer at the former Naval Test Turbine Station on Parkway Avenue.
He was employed the past five years by the law firm of Begley, Cralin & Mandio, Attorneys at Law, at the Langhorne, Pa., office.
Bill was a member of American Legion Yardley Post 317, a Master Mason of Mercer Lodge No. 50, and sang tenor in the choir at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Bill was very active in volunteering and supporting church events and activities. He was an avid thoroughbred horse race enthusiast, especially using his skills at Philadelphia Park.
Son of the late Joseph and Philomena Vincenzo Tancredi, he is survived by his loving family: two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa A. and Michael Lewis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Amy M. and Rudy Hassall of Leesburg, Va.; two sons, Joseph J. Tancredi of Lambertville, and William L. Trancredi Jr. of Brattleboro, Vt.; five grandchildren, Victoria E. Lewis, Jessica Lewis, Courtney Lewis, Grace Lewis, and Ciro S. Hassall; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Nicolina Houseman of Lawrenceville, Carmella and Frank Aiello of Trenton, and Ann Barbadore of Lawrenceville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alfred and Mary Lou Tancredi of Hamilton, and Robert Tancredi of Hamilton, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday (July 21) at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 West Upper Ferry Road, West Trenton, with the Rev. Ralph Stansley presiding.
Interment will be private for the family under the direction of Winowicz Funeral Service, Trenton.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 9:30 a.m, to 10 a.m. Monday in the church vestibule to share memories with the family.
