"Drink a ton of water," she said. "We had so many dehydration cases today."
And don't forget your skin.
"Wear sunscreen," Watson said, "and don't get it in your eyes."
She also advised people to wear a hat.
Watson said there is an air-conditioned office to help people who are suffering from the heat and need to rehydrate. An ambulance is also standing by for severe cases, she said.
But there wasn't much in the way of injuries on opening day, according to Watson. Kids who tried out the miniature skate park and fell suffered "a few bumps and bruises," she said, "but that's about it."
Watson said a couple athletes with broken ribs refused treatment.
"They're tough guys," she said.
The X Trials continue today and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. They are free and open to the public.
