The 20th annual Easter Sunrise Service on the beach will be held on Sunday, March 23, at 7 a.m., between the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort Golf Club and Spa, 400 South Collier Blvd., and the Madeira Condominium.

What began as a gathering of 200 on the beach has grown to a celebration of more than 7,000, with as many as 40 boats anchoring offshore.

The multi-denominational, family-friendly, service will last about 45 minutes.
A musical prelude by Marv Hollenbeck on the keyboard will begin at 6:45 a.m.

The Rev. Pastor Thomas McCulley of New Life Community Church will give the opening prayer.

The Rev. Dr. Bruce Fiol, the retiring senior pastor Marco Presbyterian Church, will share the message. The Rev. Bill Lyle, the former Senior Pastor of Parkview Church in Lilburn, Ga., and current senior pastor of Marco Presbyterian Church, will give the closing prayer.

Alan and Linda Sandlin and John Stein on the trumpet will provide special music.

"While others on the island were not certain that this venture would be successful, it is obvious now that God's hand was in it from the beginning," said Fiol.

"Many arrange their vacation schedules to attend the service," said Kathleen Tuttle, publicity chairman for the Easter Sunrise Service Committee.

Marco Police and committee members will be on hand to direct traffic.
Beach access will be north of the Marriott Spa and the public access north of the Madeira Condominium.

MICA Residents' Beach gates open at 6 a.m. for members. A drop-off area for those with limited mobility will be provided at the curb in front of the spa.

Adequate parking will be available close to the Marriott.

Dress is casual, wear your hat and bring your own blanket or chair.
